The European Commission has recently stopped all pending procedures for the authorisation of CBD-containing products as novel food, and is now considering classifying such products as narcotics.  This could mean the end for a large part of the new European market for CBD-containing food and consumer goods, which has been growing strongly for years.  It will be particularly interesting to see whether and how the Commission will interfere in the narcotics regime, as the latter has not yet been harmonised by European law but is still subject to the legislative competence of the member states.
